About PixelForge

An image converter that has nowhere to send your photos

Most “free image converter” sites work the same way: you upload a file, a server processes it, you download the result. That design makes privacy a policy promise instead of an architectural fact. We built the opposite.

The short version

Every one of the 20 tools on this site is the same piece of software: a Canvas-based pipeline that decodes your file, applies the adjustments you asked for, and re-encodes the result. It runs in your browser tab. Your image is never transmitted, never written to a server, and never stored anywhere.

That is the whole technical explanation. There is no upload endpoint because there is nothing to upload to.

Why it works that way

The usual reasons to upload an image are bandwidth and CPU. Both are still true in 2026, but less so than they were:

  • Compression happens locally. The browser already has a highly tuned encoder for JPEG, PNG, WebP and AVIF — it is the same code your video call uses.
  • Waiting on a round trip is slower, not faster. Most conversions finish in under a second because there is no network hop.
  • Large files never have to cross a network. A 30 MB TIFF that would time out on a form upload is not special here.
  • It works offline. Load the page once and the tools keep working with no connection at all.

How your file moves through the pipeline

  1. Drop your images in. Drag and drop, paste from the clipboard, or browse. Whole folders are fine — the converter picks up every image it recognises.
  2. Tune the output. Pick a format, set the quality or a target file size, adjust dimensions, and dial in the colour. The preview updates as you type.
  3. Download. Save a single file, or grab the whole batch as one ZIP. A ten-second sponsored break comes first — that is what keeps the tool free.

What we do collect

Very little, and none of it is about your images:

  • A daily conversion counter in your browser's localStorage, used to enforce the free tier. Clearing site data resets it.
  • An anonymous Google account ID, and only if you choose to sign in. It exists to lift the daily limit, not to identify you.
  • A remembered light/dark theme preference.

We cannot see your images even if we wanted to

There is no code path that sends image data off the device. If you are offline, the tools still work — which is the most direct proof.

How it is funded

Advertising, and nothing else. That is why there is no paid tier, no credit card form, no watermark and no “upgrade to go faster” button. It is also why each download is preceded by a short sponsored break. We think that is a fair trade for a tool that is genuinely free and never touches your files.

Who this is for

Anyone who needs to change a format, shrink a file, resize to a specific dimension or adjust colour without installing software and without handing a stranger's server their holiday photos. In practice that means:

Use cases

What people actually use it for

Web performance

Ship 300 KB hero images instead of 3 MB ones. Faster Largest Contentful Paint, better Core Web Vitals, happier visitors.

E-commerce

Reshoot nothing. Convert your existing product photography to WebP, resize to every marketplace spec, and cut page weight overnight.

Social media

One click to 1080×1350 for a feed post, 1280×720 for a thumbnail, or 1200×630 for a link preview.

Design handoff

Downscale a 6000 px hero to 2400 px with no visible softness, and export AVIF for the modern branch of the project.

Sensitive material

Redact licence numbers, faces and addresses in a photo without the file ever leaving your laptop.

Bulk clean-up

Archive photos, receipts and scans compress to a fraction of their size — all on your machine, so nothing needs a secure upload channel.

Your images never have to leave your device
